Sherry Fu, China Director, University of Manchester,
is standing for the position of Vice Chair and At-Large
I established the Manchester Business School China International Centre in Shanghai in 2008 which was renamed to the University of Manchester(UoM) China Centre in 2016. I was appointed as an envoy to the City of Manchester in 2013 at the House of Lords and awarded ‘Pilot of Chinese business education’ in 2016 by the State Council information office. I am an associate professor of linguistics and hold Masters’ degrees in Contemporary Chinese and English literature as well as EMBA degree from the University of Manchester.
I have been an active member of the Chamber since 2006 and supporting Chambers’ CSR projects, business and charity events. I am current vice chair of the education focus group and a member of Manchester Working Group. I also support the Chamber by sponsoring UoM China Centre venue and co-organising lectures on international business. I have very close affinity with the UK and a desire for British companies, and individuals, to be successful in China. If elected to the Executive Committee, I could offer both a Chinese and female perspectives of the business environment and advice in doing business in China and get the Chamber engaged more with Chinese governments and local business communities.
