Published on 2018-07-06

BISS Puxi students have achieved their strongest ever set of results for this year’s International Baccalaureate Diploma with a third of all students achieving above the 40 points IB quality benchmark for academic excellence.

With an average IB score this year of 36, it has been a very successful year for all our students on the BISS Puxi IB diploma programme.

“I am delighted for our students and the excellent results they have achieved this year.  They have embraced the school’s ‘Be Ambitious’ ethos, achieved incredible results and set themselves on a path to an exciting future at top international universities” Dr. Neil Hopkin, Principal of BISS Puxi said.

He added “BISS Puxi’s continued commitment to academic excellence and to encouraging every student to push the boundaries of what they think is possible has brought the highest dividends for so many this year.  I wish them all the very best for their bright futures.”

  • A third of all BISS Puxi students achieved above the 40 points IB benchmark for academic excellence.  This is the level of attainment required to gain admission to the world's elite universities, such as, Oxford, Cambridge, KAIST, Yonsei, Harvard and Stanford.
  • BISS Puxi’s average score this year is over 20% higher than the IB global average, widening the gap between ourselves and other IB schools around the world.
  • Special congratulations go to one BISS Puxi student who received full marks — the maximum score of 45 points. This is an incredible achievement as only 0.2% of students worldwide received full marks this year on the IBDP.

Andy Puttock, Education Director of Nord Anglia Education, said, “I am delighted by the outstanding IB diploma results achieved by our students this year. This excellent outcome is not only due to their efforts but also the incredible hard work put in by the school’s teachers throughout the year to ensure our children experience the best in learning.”

The route to academic excellence is a personal journey for each student and cannot be achieved without dedicated teaching staff & parents and a firm commitment to creating individual personal learning plans for each student.

BISS Puxi will hosting a series of interactive panel discussions on preparing your child for academic & personal success.  The first event to be held in August will focus on how assessment, recording & reporting prepares your child for success.   If you would like to plan your child’s personal route to academic success click here for free registration or go to for more information.
