The Chamber Hosts Breakfast with Graham Stuart MP, Minister for Investment, DIT

On 29 August, the British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai hosted a breakfast event with Graham Stuart MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State and Minister for Investment of Department for International Trade.

The event was chaired by James Dunn, Head of the British Chamber Shanghai. At the event, Minister Stuart shared with members his reflections on his visit to China – prior to Shanghai, he visited Beijing, Hunan and Chongqing, and met with Chinese governmental officials from the Ministry of Commerce, and attended various key events in the three of the cities.

Minister Stuart highlighted that China was one of the most important trading partners of the UK, and the Chinese investment into the UK in 2018 vastly increased even under the uncertainty of Brexit. He also shared with members his views on Brexit and identified the opportunities for British businesses in various sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and life sciences in China and other key markets in the world, where the British businesses have lots of innovation ideas, technology, and experience to share.

At the event, he also thanked the British Chamber Shanghai, and all British Chambers in China, for being the voice of British businesses in China.

British Chamber Shanghai members from the advanced engineering and manufacturing, automotive, built environment, education, financial and professional services, hospitality and leisure sectors attended the event.
