British Chamber Shanghai Hosts A Lunch with Minister and Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Beijing

On Thursday, 18 October, the British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai hosted a lunch event with Christina Scott, Minister and Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Beijing.


The event was hosted at the Sukhothai Hotel Shanghai. Members from a wide range of industry sectors attended the lunch and shared with Christina local British businesses’ experience of trading and working with China.  Christina shared with members some latest updates from London and Beijing, including post-Brexit UK-China relations and future trade agreements. 

Christina Scott took up her position in September 2018. Christina became a civil servant in 1996, working in various UK Government and European Commission roles before joining HM Treasury in 2003. From there she moved to the Department of Transport, working as Principal Private Secretary to the Secretary of State from 2005 – 2006, and onto Number 10, where she was Private Secretary to the Prime Minister from 2006 – 2009. After spending four years as Director of the Civil Contingencies Secretariat in the Cabinet Office (2009-2013), Christina was HM Governor to Anguilla, in the British West Indies from 2013 until 2017.
