Gerard MacMahon, Master, Wellington College International Shanghai,
is standing for the position of At-Large
I am the Master (or principal) of Wellington College International Shanghai. Wellington opened in 2014 and has a focus on educating the whole child, so academic excellence stands side-by-side with rich experiences in sport and the performing arts. It is the fastest growing international school in the city. I have been a head teacher in Wiltshire and Qatar. My academic background is as an economist, having studied at the LSE. I enjoy life in Shanghai and live in the heart of Puxi with my wife Stephanie. Shanghai’s British international schools support and depend upon a thriving international business community. We are eager to offer our resources and facilities to help the business community learn, meet and play. If elected, I hope that I would bring energy and enthusiasm to the executive, as well as the experience of a new arrival in Shanghai and the perspective of one of Britain’s biggest export sectors.
