Sustainable Business
Mission Statement
The Sustainable Business Focus Group, as part of the British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai, aims to provide the members of the Chamber with a range of events with a sustainable business focus; and encourage high profile industry leaders to present at our events to keep our members updated on the latest developments both in the UK and in China.
In order to achieve sustainable business, companies must manage their financial, social and environmental risks, obligations and opportunities simultaneously. Sustainability must not be thought of as a purely environmental or PR consideration, nor must it be seen to be a ‘nice to have’. It is absolutely essential in order to have long-term successful business growth.
Sustainable business is underpinned by legal, moral and fiscal drivers. The British Chamber has identified 6 pillars that can help to achieve company objectives:
- Environment Protection
- Community engagement
- Ethics & Integrity
- Equality & Diversity
- Voluntary & Charity
- Partnership & Social Innovation
The purpose of the Sustainable Business Group is to share best practice and be a catalyst for change amongst businesses to support China’s long-term environmental and business interests.
