Madam Zhou Yin Mei
A native of Jiangsu, on graduation from high school, Madam Zhou began a career that started in an agricultural machinery plant, shifted to chemical paints and moved onto the pearl industry. Whilst raising a family, she was able to save sufficient funds to return to studies and earned an engineering degree at Nanjing University. She ultimately returned to her home town and in 2005, started to build the Evergreen Group from its beginnings as a private supplier of traffic systems to China’s railways.
Madam Zhou is a member of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party and was a representative at the 10th and 11th National People's Congress. Amongst Madam Zhou’s many accolades, she has been honored as ‘National Outstanding Female Entrepreneur’ 1997, 2005 and 2008, ‘National Outstanding Entrepreneur’ 2003 and 2009, and is also a past China representative at the United Nations World Women's Congress. She is actively engaged in charity works in her community and currently holds the title of Vice President of the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Jiangsu Province.
